Veteran QB Joe Flacco Lands a Spot with the Cleveland Browns

In a move to bolster their quarterback depth, the Cleveland Browns have signed seasoned quarterback Joe Flacco to their practice squad. Flacco, a 16-year NFL veteran, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Browns' locker room.

The 6-6, 245-pound quarterback, originally a first-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2008, has amassed an impressive resume throughout his career. Across stints with the Ravens, Broncos, and Jets, Flacco has appeared in 183 games, making 180 starts. His passing statistics speak volumes about his capabilities: 3,881 completions out of 6,299 attempts for a 61.6% completion rate, resulting in 232 touchdowns and 147 interceptions.

Flacco's leadership qualities have been evident throughout his career, as he guided the Ravens to victory in Super Bowl XLVII, earning the coveted Super Bowl MVP title. His most recent stint involved starting four games for the Jets in 2022.

To accommodate Flacco's addition to the practice squad, the Browns released wide receiver Trinity Benson. This decision reflects the team's priority in securing a reliable backup quarterback, considering the recent injury to Deshaun Watson.

Flacco's signing is a strategic move by the Browns, adding depth and experience to their quarterback room. His presence is expected to provide valuable mentorship and support to the younger quarterbacks, enhancing the team's overall performance.
