Android 14 QPR1 Arrives with December Security Update
The update boasts a range of improvements, including:
- Enhanced Wallpaper & Style: A new particle effect adds a touch of magic when changing wallpapers.
- Improved Pixel Launcher: Search preferences have been revamped, and the search shortcut is now more prominent.
- Clearer Quick Settings: The new design provides a better understanding of each tile's function.
- Pixel Tablet Enhancements: Force apps to specific aspect ratios for a customized viewing experience.
- Improved Fingerprint Recognition: A prominent toast message on the Pixel Tablet assists with fingerprint identification.
- Weather in the Clock App: View weather forecasts directly in the Clock app for your saved cities.
- Security Updates: The December patch addresses 33 security vulnerabilities in the Android OS and 61 specific to Google devices, ensuring your device is well-protected.
Android 14 QPR1 is currently available for the following Pixel devices:
- Pixel 5a
- Pixel 6 & 6 Pro
- Pixel 6a
- Pixel 7 & 7 Pro
- Pixel 7a
- Pixel Tablet
- Pixel Fold
- Pixel 8 & 8 Pro
The update is being rolled out gradually over the air. You can check for it manually by going to Settings > System > System updates. Alternatively, you can download the factory images and flash them manually.
