Batman: Beyond the White Knight has really been a story about Bruce Wayne's extreme dissatisfaction with the Bat-family. As much as he loves the time spent with the likes of Jason Todd, Dick Grayson, and Barbara Gordon, he can't help but feel he failed them as well as Gotham City. It's why he broke out of jail, hoping to take Derek Powers down, to ensure the city doesn't turn into an oppressive military state that'd inspire more vigilantes.
